SIV is an acronym for the French phrase ‘Simulation d’incident en vol’ or in English ‘In-flight incident simulation. The idea of an SIV course is to give a pilot the opportunity to experience potential in flight situations that can and do occur whilst paragliding, in order to learn how to manage these situations safely. This can be anything from simple deflations, to cravats resulting in strong G-Force evoking rotations from the glider.
The aim of an SIV and this course in particular, is to build a solid foundation of knowledge and confidence regarding what the glider is telling us in flight and how we can go about dealing with each situation. Once we have an understanding of what certain movements and rustles in the glider mean, we can then start to understand how to play our part in dealing with them.
Our course developed over the past 12 years, is designed to progressively build skills at a pilots own pace in order to cover all the essential basics of safety in flight.
Free Flight Academy we take ACRO training and progression very seriously and have spent many years refining and perfecting a way for pilots to progress quickly but most importantly safely. If you are reading this, I am assuming you are a pilot that is currently learning, or would like to learn ACRO and therefore our brand new small group ACRO course could well be for you!
